I have seen so many makeup tutorials on YouTube using MAC Glitter recently. I have been dying to try them myself, especially with Summer approaching. However, they are impossible to get hold of! I went to the MAC counter in Debenhams as well as a MAC store and neither of them stocked any glitter. I was told in one shop that they were only in the London store and in another that they were only sold at Christmas?!
I decided to look around. I specifically wanted to find something similar to the shade ‘Reflects Antique Gold’. I searched Boots but found nothing that matched that shade – I was particularly disappointed with Barry M Dazzle Dusts. They were always such a winner when I was younger! Then I searched eBay and found the MAC shade being sold for £50! No thank you…
A lovely lady at the MAC counter in Debenhams then asked me if I’d ever used the Illamasqua glitters. I’d never even considered looking there but I’m so glad she said it because I think I have found the perfect dupe for the MAC shade! If you google photos of the MAC glitter, it looks almost identical to this. This is the Illamaqua Pure Pigment in ‘Ore‘. It is SO beautiful, and it gives that wet eyeshadow look that I have been desperate for!
I am calling this a dupe but it’s not much cheaper than the MAC glitter – it’s only cheaper by 50p! However, I was willing to spend £17 on the MAC shade, so £16.50 seemed reasonable for a near-perfect dupe.
If you’re after any other MAC Glitter shades, it’s definitely worth having a look at the Illamasqua Pure Pigments. I also much prefer the packaging – you don’t end up covered in glitter as soon as you open the lid!
